The Foundation of Success at Saint Philomene of Alcala Inc.

Dennis’s decision to attend Saint Philomene of Alcala Inc. (formerly Saint Philomene Academy) was largely influenced by his sister, who spoke highly of the school's excellent education and nurturing environment. The institution provided him with opportunities to explore his talents and leadership potential, laying the groundwork for the accomplished professional he is today.

At Saint Philomene of Alcala Inc., Dennis thrived both academically and in extracurricular activities. His love for English, Math, and Science fueled his intellectual curiosity, while his involvement in various leadership roles helped him develop the confidence and skills necessary for future success. As a student leader, he served as:

  • President of the Student Body Organization (SBO)

  • Editor-in-Chief of "The Philomenians"

  • CAT Corps Commander

Beyond academics, he participated in literary and musical events, further honing his ability to communicate and collaborate effectively. His teachers, particularly Ma’am Anna Cabrido Pillos and Ma’am Susan Garcia Dellona, played a crucial role in shaping his mindset, offering guidance and encouragement that helped him navigate the pressures of student life.

Despite the challenges of living up to high expectations, Dennis found strength in his supportive friends, teachers, and his own resilience. Saint Philomene of Alcala Inc. not only nurtured his academic excellence but also instilled in him a competitive spirit, leadership qualities, and a passion for lifelong learning—traits that would prove essential in his future career.

Pursuing Engineering and Project Management

After graduating, Dennis pursued a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering at the University of Baguio. As the class valedictorian of Saint Philomene of Alcala Inc., he secured an academic scholarship, which he maintained for two years before earning a choral scholarship through UB Voices, the university’s choral group. Balancing his studies and extracurricular commitments, he completed his degree in just 4.5 years instead of the usual 5, an achievement that showcased his determination and time management skills.

His next milestone came in May 2004, when he successfully passed the Civil Engineering Board Exam, marking the beginning of his professional journey in engineering and construction.

A Global Career in Infrastructure Development

Dennis’s career took him across the world, working on large-scale infrastructure projects in the Middle East (Saudi Arabia and Qatar). His expertise contributed to the development of causeways, bridges, ports, harbors, roads, and other major civil structures—critical projects that shaped cities and improved the lives of many.

In 2013, Dennis took another significant step in his career by enrolling in the Graduate Certificate in Project Management program at the University of Virginia, a prestigious institution known for its rigorous selection process. Upon completing the program in 2014, he further enhanced his credentials by earning his Project Management Professional (PMP) certification in December of the same year.

Building a Legacy in Colorado Springs

Dennis eventually moved to the United States, where he has been working with the City of Colorado Springs for over seven years. Starting as a Public Works Inspector, he steadily advanced in his career and now serves as an Engineer II, contributing to one of the best-ranked cities in the U.S. His role allows him to enhance and maintain the city's infrastructure, ensuring that Colorado Springs continues to thrive as a well-developed and sustainable community.
